Hey guys, Drew back here. I'm still posting Christmas loot, yes, I know, we are almost 20 days past Christmas, not to mention almost halfway through January, but the show that I run on this blog leads me to believe I'll always be behind. Ok, before I continue blabbing on here are the grades for this product:
Design: I'll say it once and I'll say it again, this set has a great design. Everyone thinks it's so meaningless yet it has possibly the most underrated set design of them all. Gray is a very selective color, only some people don't mind it. Others feel like they want to fall asleep. I am more of the 1st type, if it has a cool design to it and isn't just plain gray I like it. The inserts were very well done, and if you want to see them again scroll down to the post underneath this and watch the video, I'm too lazy to post it again. The Timeless Moments cards are AMAZING looking, and I really like the Cuts from the Same Cloth. Now, a problem people have about the set is the Historical Moments, that they should have their own sets for things like that. I mean, a turkey? Well, I guess I just need the autograph and game used for the trifecta because I have it's rookie card! But, there are some cool topics and they use great photography. Plus in 8th grade I'm learning about half of those things so it's pretty cool when school ties into cards, well not too cool but hey it's an easier way to study! Design Grade: B+
Price: Again, I did not buy any of these boxes, but I gotta say that this is a pretty awesome deal. You get 3 hits for 40 bucks, including a piece of movie worn memorabilia. My box wasn't overly great, the expected re-sell value would have to be $15-20 bucks. But, if you want a fun, colorful, and cool break for a cheap price, leave this set as an option. I wish more boxes had prices like this... Price Grade: A+
Hits: As I said in the price section the hits were not very good. Nothing against Aaron Cunningham & Rafael Furcal (night owl again???), I know Furcal is pretty good and Cunningham has plenty of future time, but how in the world do you count that as a hit??? The Adam Sandler shirt piece was definitely a cool hit, and although I hate to talk about book value (but I do a lot I know), when you spend money like this you wanna have fun, and get the money back you spent. I know I got a bad box, there are much better cards in the set than Furcal & Cunningham, so I still have faith in this product. Hits Grade: C
Overall: Well, this set is not nearly as awesome as the 2008 version but it's still pretty nice. For the money you spend you should be happy, thanks to my grandparents for getting it for me again! The Adam Sandler is NO DOUBT PC, especially since he's my favorite actor. I would have bought it in the future, but it's so nice to just pull it! So, overall an ok box, with the all the nice inserts it turned out pretty cool. Overall Grade: C
One more box to go! See Ya!

I'm always game for a Furcal hit, even if it's from POH.
ReplyDeleteI don't have much for you right now though.
You never get your money back from boxes unless you actually sell the cards. Last I checked, stores don't accept baseball cards as currency! For that reason, I don't worry a whole lot about "value" - you're paying for entertainment, just like going to the movies, or with a video game or book. But I think I get where you're coming from - it's nice to at least know that your cards aren't TOTAL garbage, even if selling is never your intention.
